LAUGHLIN, Nevada and BULLHEAD CITY, Arizona (December 7, 2017) – On Tuesday, December 5, 2017 over 30 of Marnell Gaming’s team members participated in a volunteer cleanup of the Colorado River and certain surrounding areas. The December 5th effort, led by Ryan Walker, Sr. VP & GM of Marnell Gaming’s Edgewater and Colorado Belle hotel-casinos located in Laughlin, Nevada, was the first of three planned volunteer clean-up events preceding next summer’s Laughlin River Regatta event.

This initial clean-up effort was focused in Heritage Park in Bullhead City, Arizona, and on approximately 1.5 miles of Colorado River shoreline located in Nevada opposite Bullhead City’s Rotary Park. Across the two locations, volunteers scoured the areas and cleaned them of garbage and debris. In excess of 720 pounds of garbage were collected and removed.

The Marnell Gaming sponsored clean-up events are a part of Marnell Gaming’s commitment to devote significant resources to the cleanup and beautification of the Colorado River in the Bullhead City/Laughlin area and to ensure that this valuable Colorado River resource does not suffer because of tourism events such as the Laughlin River Regatta. Marnell Gaming and the Bullhead City Council recently reached an agreement in principal for Marnell Gaming to assume responsibility for the conduct and operation of the River Regatta going forward. As a part of that agreement, both parties recognized the importance of addressing environmental and clean-up issues, the cost of which in part led Bullhead City to discontinue its operation of the River Regatta. As a result, Marnell has committed to formal cleanup plans that will be funded at Marnell Gaming’s cost.

“We are totally committed to bringing a safe, fun, and environmentally responsible event to the River,” said Marnell Gaming Chairman and CEO, Anthony Marnell III. “It is also about building a longstanding community partnership that will improve the image and desirability of the Colorado River as a tourism amenity.”
